In pre-Trump days, domestic politics would be left at the shore. The next time you order French wine, don’t complain about the price. Just remember that’s the cost to help American monopolies evade taxes, and it’s your patriotic duty. Neither of these issues has anything to do with the serious problems within the alliance. It must take all of their restraint for the rest of the NATO leaders not to tell Mr. Trump to go home.
